Eight years ago, NEXT Canada was founded with a vision to fuel national prosperity by unlocking the potential of our country’s most exceptional young innovators.
Then, as now, we know that to win globally, Canada needs to dramatically scale our innovation ecosystem – cultivating and investing in our most promising homegrown founders here, so that they can rise, and thrive on the global stage.
When Canada’s best and brightest innovators have access to training, mentorship and resources, they can harness their full capabilities and build our shared future.
In eight short years, more than 450 of Canada’s top students and early-stage entrepreneurs have experienced NEXT Canada’s transformative impact, through our signature programs — NEXT 36, Next Founders and NextAI.
Our alumni are:
Founders of industry-changing businesses, first employees at the world’s most exciting new technology companies and scientists conducting ground-breaking research.
They are the disruptors who are building ventures that address the world’s most pressing challenges, from the increasing complexity of delivering healthcare, to climate change, to the issues facing an aging population.
Their early successes reinforce the need for NEXT’s unique model of entrepreneurship education, mentorship and venture funding.

I feel ever so empowered -- as a young business leader, a female in technology, and as a mentor to others who feel held back by their fears. Your efforts will have a lasting, multiplying effect on the Canadian economy. Thank you for everything.
NEXT has transformed my life. It has been the best and most challenging experience of my life to-date - I am awfully grateful to everyone involved.
The Next 36 has been the turning point in my life. The program has offered me an invaluable opportunity to start a truly scalable business.
The Next 36 taught me what it truly means to be an entrepreneur…it taught me what it means to lead, to feel a sense to personal responsibility for the future prosperity of our nation. The only people who've taught me more in my life are my parents.
At NEXT Canada, I learned things that had an immediate impact on my venture. But the program really is intended as an investment in the future, to spawn the next generation of great Canadian entrepreneurs.
NEXT programs focus on founder development - exposing you to big thinkers, domain experts and an impressive circle of peers that will motivate you to increase your expectation of what is possible. It is exciting to see this proven model being applied to AI-enabled business ideas.
These last six months have been wildly challenging- I’ve been forced to learn faster, hustle harder and push my limits further than ever before- and to be honest, I’ve never been happier.
(NEXT) provides an unprecedented opportunity to accelerate the growth of young entrepreneurs with access to an unparalleled network, resources, and guidance.
The Next 36 has taught me that change comes from looking at situations differently, has put me in tough positions where I've developed confidence to think big and follow through, and provided me with a network of powerful leaders to inspire and help direct me
The Next 36 has truly been transformative for me. The world-class courses, mentorship, and network has shifted my mindset and made me realize that we Canadians can compete with anyone in the world and aspire to greatness in business.

I look at the participants in the Next 36 and it’s a reflection of the new Canada. To me, there’s nothing more exciting than a chance to be a part of it.
Lots of people say entrepreneurship is not vibrant in Canada, and I disagree entirely. It’s as vibrant as ever, but it needs proper forums such as NEXT Canada and access to long-term capital to truly flourish.
NEXT Canada is investing in tomorrow’s leaders like no other organization in this country. Developing the next generation of entrepreneurs is vital to our nation’s prosperity – the tools, education, and resources that NEXT Canada provides them is a crucial step in preparing them for success.
If I’d been lucky enough to be part of The Next 36, I wouldn’t have founded ATI Technologies, I would have founded Microsoft.
Especially in challenging times, it's the big thinkers who take bold actions to create jobs, generate wealth, open borders and improve the lives of millions in their own communities and beyond. At EY, we're big believers in the power of entrepreneurship and innovation. That's why we're so pleased to support NEXT Canada in their quest to strengthen Canada's next generation of innovators.
NEXT Canada is the best organization in the country for future entrepreneurs.
